Comic Con 2003 Trip

Simpsons News — Posted 18 Jul, 2003 by MrBurns

Hey fans! You've waited long enough and now we're bringing our full trip to Comic Con 2003 in San Diego with all the news and pictures you can ever want. We hit everything and anything related to our favorite Family the Simpsons and you can see everything by Clicking Here to See Everything.

Playmates Toys:

The first place we hit was of course Playmates Toys (www.playmatestoys.com). Featured in their booth was an array of previously released figures with the very first upclose images of the highly awaited sets and figures. Series 13 was out on display along with the Treehouse of Horrors TRU.com exclusive set, the B-Sharps exclusive set, the soon to be released Aztec theatre with Wolfcastle and the Future Burns set. The display also had the already released Screamers and the soon to be releaed Diorama sets which we've mentioned several times in the past.

Hollywood 4 You:

Hollywood 4 You (www.hollywood4you.com) was a new company we noticed at the show. This is a great company for those people looking for Simpsons items which are not made in the US. The company has these really cool Simpson mirrors for $9.99(pictured above) as well as metal signs, 3D picture frames, floormats and posters which we have NEVER seen. This is an awesome new store out there for you collectors and we recommend you check their website out.

NECA:
There weren't any pictures which we could grab from NECA, the creators of such toys as the Homer Jack-in-the-Box but we did ask them and these are the 2 items which they told us they are working on.

-Treehouse of Horror Lunchbox: This is pretty self explanatory. It's going to be the next in the line of Simpsons lunchboxes but with the THOH theme. We personally can't wait to see this.

-SNPP Lavalamp: This green lava lamp will feature all your favorite SNPP employees such as Lenny, Carl and of course Homer as the nuclear meltdown effect occurs in this Simpsons lava lamp. No dates or images on these items were given but we will keep you updated as more news on these items is released.

Wizards of the Coast:

Wizards of the Coast (www.wizards.com) was in full swing with the longly awaited and constantly delayed Simpsons card game. This is a themed deck card game which Wizards has developed based around our favorite family. The game was alreadt released in Europe but never hit the US. Now the game looks newly developed with news types of decks and cards. For more information on this item, Wizards recommends you visit the Press Release for it Here.

SideShow Collectibles:

Sideshow Collectibles (www.sideshowcollectibles.com) was kind enough to display the wonderful Simpsons busts which we are very excited about. The first series, out very soon which features Marge, Homer, Bart and Lisa were displayed and shown in their packaging. Along side Series 1 was the newest made busts made by the company which includes Apu, Burns, Moe, Comic Book Guy and Comic Book Guy's Alter Ego: The Collector. The normal Comic Book Guy bust features him holding a footlong hotdog with everything on it in one hand and a comic in the other. The Collector bust features him in his fantastic super-hero pose. Both are wonderful items sell for $35.00 and are to be out this year in Sept./Oct. The only thing is The Collector bust will ONLY be featured as an exclusive item on the Sideshow Collectibles website and there won't be 3000 made but only 500. We'll keep you updated on these as well.

KellyToy:

KellyToys was on hand at the show as well. New to the Simpsons community this year, KellyToys is the company which produced those lovable Simpsons chew toys for your pets. These included the 12" plushes, the plastic chew toys, chew toy Grandpa's teeth and the Homer Tug Toy. Featured at the show was these items as well as the new Plush Berber Bone, the Soft Flying Frisbee, the Tennis Ball 2 packs and the NEW Christmas style 12" Plushes. The Christmas ones were JUST featured and are the newest to the line. These are to be out closer to the time of Christmas while the others are currently available in stores. Playing Mantis:

Our last stop was Playing Mantis. Their booth didn't have many Simpson related items but they did have the newly released "The Homer" model car and the soon to be released Simpsons Die-Cast cars. These are like the Jonny Lightning cars but in Simpsons style. They include Homer's Car, Marge's Car, the Springfield Elementary School Bus and a Springfield Police car.
