This clip is the first of two rough animatics shown at Comic Con (July 2006); someone caught it on video camera and released it online. This clip, however was also released as a cleaned up animatic.
Homer introduces the clip: Hi, I'm Homer Simpson. Don't tell FOX, but here's an unfinished scene from The Simpsons Movie. It's a work in progress, so I don't want anyone asking stupid questions, like ‘Hey, what happened to the color?’ So...
At this point the movie logo on screen fades to black-and-white. Hey! What happened to the color?!
In the clip, Homer is whipping sled dogs, who transport him across a snowy landscape (which we now believe to be Alaska). Initially Homer is shouting Run! Run!
but when the dogs take a break, he is still whipping them, with the call Rest! Rest!
Okay, that's enough whipping for now... with this arm!
Homer starts whipping with his left arm.
Later, Homer sets up camp for the night. Now I know we've had a rough day, but I'm sure we can put all that behind us and just...
As soon as he releases the dogs, they attack him and flee.
In the clip shown at Comic Con, Homer laments, Why does everything I whip leave me?
as the dogs leave over the horizon, but this is absent from the official animatic.
