According to the website for Gorfaine-Schwartz Agency, composer Hans Zimmer is expected to write the score for the feature film version of The Simpsons. As a long-time composer for producer James Brooks, Zimmer is an unlikely choice, as most people were expecting Alf Clausen, the series composer to be the frontrunner.
The movie is slated for a 2008 release.
Two more series of The Simpsons have been commissioned by US television network Fox, ensuring the show will be on screens until at least 2008. The decision means it will rack up its 400th episode in the next two years.
Creator Matt Groening said last year that he had no plans to stop making the programme. "I don't see any end in sight," he said. "I want to get to 366 [shows] so we have one for every day of the year, including a leap year."
Groening said the animated hit would keep going as long as they could keep surprising viewers. "That's what you're looking for in television - surprise."
An opinion poll recently suggested that Americans knew more about The Simpsons than the US Constitution's First Amendment. Fox has also commissioned another series of cartoon show King of the Hill. It is due to return for its 11th season in January next year.
UPDATE: Jukka from The Simpsons Folder has received information from an inside source that these guest star rumours are not true.

Talks have begun at 20th Century Fox TV to revive Futurama - the futuristic animated show created by Matt Groening - much in the same way "Family Guy" found new life after cancellation.
The studio is in early discussions to put the show back in production and create a limited number of episodes of the Emmy Award-winning skein -- although it's too soon to tell where those segs might end up. A rep for 20th Century Fox TV declined comment.
The final original episode of "Futurama" aired on Fox in August 2003. But since then, the skein has found new life -- and fans -- via DVD releases and repeatedly high-rated airings on the Cartoon Network.
