China has banished Homer Simpson, Pokemon and Mickey Mouse from prime time. Beginning September 1, regulators have barred foreign cartoons from TV from 5 to 8 p.m. in an effort to protect China's struggling animation studios, news reports said Sunday. The move allows the Monkey King and his Chinese pals to get the top TV viewing hours to themselves.
British TV chef Gordon Ramsay is taking on his biggest challenge yet - teaching Homer Simpson how to cook.
The fiery cook caught the attention of the producers of The Simpsons following the US version of his reality show Hell's Kitchen.
They now want him to show Homer what to do in the kitchen.
Gordon, renowned for his foul language, said: "I was really honoured.
"I don't know how they're going to do it, but I hope they keep the swearing in."
I've created a page with all the information currently known about the upcoming Season 18, some of which is listed below. Continuing the trend from last year, some episodes will air in September before the baseball in October. Currently two are confirmed, but there may be a third. The Season will then continue in November with the Halloween episode.
The Mook, the Chef, the Wife and her Homer (HABF15)
Lisa befriends Fat Tony's son, Michael, who wishes to be a chef rather than a mobster. During a dinner party with the Simpsons, Fat Tony is shot and the mobsters want Michael to be the new kingpin. But when he declines, Homer takes over and leads the family on a major mob spree. Metallica are reported to be guest starring in this episode (though it seems they would fit better into the next episode below).
Airing September 10, as the Season Premiere.
Jazzy And The Pussycats (HABF18)
After Bart's arm is mangled by a tiger that Lisa rescued from the local pound, Bart organizes a benefit concert to raise money for an operation to repair his drumming arm. The White Stripes guest star.
Airing September 17.
Treehouse of Horror XVII (HABF17)
Fran Drescher will guest star as the voice of "Golem." Dr. Phil McGraw and comedian Richard Lewis also guest star.
Airing November 5.
G.I. (Annoyed Grunt) (HABF21)
After Bart gets out of a commitment to join the Army at 18, Homer falls prey to a couple of Army recruiters and lands himself in basic training. Homer, of course, treats this like summer camp and infuriates his hard-nosed colonel, voiced by Kiefer Sutherland when he is unfazed by the constant hazing and humiliation.
Airing November 12.

Whew, it's been a long while since we did a content update. We've got major things in the works for Simpson Crazy, so don't worry, regular updates will resume by the end of the summer.
Today, I've updated the Secret Sound content. The previous sound - Homer saying, "Put this in your fife and smoke it" - was from the episode Lisa the Iconoclast.

The list of impressive and eclectic guest voices continues to grow, with actors like Kiefer Sutherland, Natalie Portman, Michael Imperioli, Joe Pantoliano, Joe Mantegna, The White Stripes and Dr. Phil McGraw making voice appearances next Season, starting on September 10.
Kelsey Grammer has added a fifth Emmy to his collection, this time for his voice-over work on Fox's animated comedy "The Simpsons."
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Wednesday announced the winners in several categories of the 58th annual Emmy Awards that don't go through a nomination process and are decided by juries of members from the respective academy branches.
Grammer earned his first Emmy in the outstanding voice-over performance category for his recurring role as criminal mastermind Sideshow Bob on "The Simpsons." His Emmy haul already includes four prizes for his work as Dr. Frasier Crane on "Frasier."
The Simpsons has also been nominated for an Emmy, for the episode The Seemingly Never-Ending Story. It faces tough opposition from the controversial South Park episode, Trapped in the Closet, which ridicules Tom Cruise and Scientology; and Family Guy's PTV.
The members of Metallica were in the studio last September to record their voices for an upcoming episode of The Simpsons. It will air as the premiere to the show's eighteenth Season, on September 10.
The metal giants, who rocked the hell out of Download festival last month, join a long list of acclaimed musicians who have made cameos, including the Rolling Stones, U2, Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Smashing Pumpkins, REM and Elton John.
Comedy Central is going back to the Futurama. Three years after the show last aired on prime time, the cable net has signed a deal to resurrect the former Fox animated series for a minimum 13-episode run.
Comedy Central will start airing the new shows in 2008.
"We are thrilled that Matt Groening and 20th Century Fox Television have decided to produce new episodes of Futurama and that Comedy Central will be the first to air them," said David Bernath, the cable net's senior VP.
The new episode order is part of a larger deal Comedy Central made with the production company last year, when they bought the syndicated rights to Futurama's 72-episode library.
"There is a deep and passionate fan base for this intelligent and very funny show that matches perfectly with our audience, and it is great that we can offer them not just the existing library but something they've never seen as well," Bernath told the Hollywood Reporter.

Not the sort of thing we normally post, but this is definitely worth a look. Luke Burgess, a themed entertainment designer, has put together a CG model of the Simpsons house in a program called SketchUp.
The video, available at the link below takes you on a tour round the house as if you were watching the Simpsons. Check it out!

Slated for theatrical release on July 27, 2007, the highly anticipated Simpsons feature film will reportedly get a huge promotional push across all divisions of Fox Broadcasting’s parent company, News Corp. A story in today’s Hollywood Reporter mentions that News Corp is hoping to take in several hundred million dollars in incremental revenue from the movie over the next couple of years.
News Corp president and chief operating officer Peter Chernin spoke at the Deutsche Bank Media & Telecommunications Conference in Santa Monica, informing investors that Simpsons exec producer James L. Brooks met with a virtual army of News Corp exec to discuss worldwide strategies for licensing and marketing the film across a number of platforms including home video, publishing and network and satellite TV.
Chernin hopes that the promotional blitz for the Simpsons movie will in turn benefit all News Corp entities involved, and pushed the importance of synergy by pointing out the recent worldwide box office success of 20th Century Fox’s animated feature Ice Age: The Meltdown and the effects-laden X-Men: The Last Stand. With The Simpsons feature, he plans release details and promotions three waves that will hit in November, February and May.
