Missing: One 7 Foot Santa Homer; and News

Simpsons News — Posted 03 Jan, 2003 by MrBurns

Hey there Simpson fans, time for another small news brief. We start off with something strange coming from the Macomb Daily out of Michigan. We all know how popular the 7 foot air filled Santa Homers were during the Christmas season but would you go as far as steal one from your neighbor's front lawn? Well that's exactly what happened to one family in this small town. "The depiction of the character from the hit television show, "The Simpsons," on the Fox network, was taken from the family's front yard on Hickory Street between 6 and 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23. At the time, the family was in the kitchen in the rear of the home cooking for Christmas, David Large said." Read the full sad story by clicking here.

On a brighter note, creator of the Simpsons, Matt Greoning, is spending some time in curating the upcoming "All Tomorrow's Parties" in Los Angeles this coming June on the 18th-22nd at UCLA's Royce Hall in addition to three downtown-area venues. Up and coming bands such as And You Will Know Us by the Trail of the Dead, the Breeders, the Boredoms, Neko Case, the Fall, and Wire will be attending. Get more information by clicking here.

News: Disney Tweaked; UK's Favorite and Homer in Reeboks

Simpsons News — Posted 30 Dec, 2002 by MrBurns

Hey fans, a pretty big news update heading your way. First off we get a little preview of the 01/05/03 episode of "Special Edna". "In the story, the family wins a free trip to Orlando after son Bart nominates his fourth-grade instructor, Edna Krabappel, for a Teacher of the Year Award — a competition that sounds a lot like Disney's annual American Teacher Awards." The family visits the "EFCOT" center where "Lisa explains to the family that an EFCOT attraction was designed by people in 1965 who imagined what life would be like in 1987". Although like any episode the show is just fun and games, Disney is very upset about the episode. This is not the first time the show has taken a shot at Disney. Ned's Praiseland makes fun of Disney's Holy Land Experience and they did make fun of the Euro-Disney as well. Read the full article by clicking here.

According to the BBC, The Simpsons has ended as the UK's top-rated show on the charts. Friends came in as a close second but no other program topped this chart throughout 2002. Read this article on the BBC website by clicking here.

Lastly, we know that Reebok uses usually big time athletes for their shoe commercials but there is news of none other than our favorite dad, Homer Simpson, sporting the new shoes for the new Reebok ads for the Reebok Classic. "Homer is perfect for Reebok Classic," says Reebok Chief Marketing Officer Micky Pant. "Our Classic products let people take it easy and relax, and as we all know, Homer is the king of kicking back." New Products: Cookies and Keychains

Simpsons News — Posted 29 Dec, 2002 by MrBurns

Hey fans, we just had to get in the mood for after Christmas shopping and along the way we found a few cool thing to tell you about. First off we got some really yummy Simpsons "Cookie D'Ohs!". These shortbread cookies are come in a small box and feature the shapes of Bart, Ralph, Apu and Homer. There are about 24 cookies in a box and the best part about it is they taste great. We found these for $1.99 at our local shop here but we do hear that some places sell them for more.

Next up we found Simpsons Bendies Keychains, that's right. Made by the same company which made the full sized bendies, these mini-bendies of Bart and Homer are attached to a keychain. We only found Bart and Homer (even though the full sized ones had the whole family) but we hope they release the rest. They are about 2-3 inches tall and made the same way as the original bendies. In the same store we found these in we also found a bunch of new Simpsons stickers and a new line of Simpson pens. Have fun looking for all these great items.

Well, in Cedar Falls, Iowa they've released the "Best of 2002" article and what better way to make the list great but by adding our favorite family as #2 on it. Here's what they had to say: "2. Shearer's Birthday Hip Hop Jam!

Simpsons News — Posted 23 Dec, 2002 by MrBurns

Hey fans, it's another birthday we celebrate as Harry Shearer, the voice of such characters as Smithers and Mr. Burns, turns 59. Harry was born on December 23rd 1949 in Los Angeles, CA. All of us here at Simpson Crazy wish him a very Happy Birthday!

In other news, The Simpsons have made it into the "white man's hip-hop hall of shame" according to the Toronto Star. Here's what the author had to say: "The Simpsons, "Deep Deep Trouble." Look, I love The Simpsons more than life itself, but there've been a couple of mistakes along the way — and perhaps the biggest was the album The Simpsons Sing The Blues. Here, Bart raps about some innocuous naughtiness over an instrumental track penned by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. Despite the lack of laughs, it's still better than the Michael Jackson-penned "Do The Bartman." Sample lyric: "I opened up my eyes, to my surprise / There stood Homer and his temperature rised."
