In Shelby (not Shelbyville) Ohio a recent local band contest revealed that one of the best bands was non-other than a band who's name was inspired by The Simpsons show. How So? The band's name is "Duff". Yeah, we know what you're thinking... Fox is going to have a field day with this one. "Duff mixes its alternative-rock show with original and cover songs, including music from the Beatles, Eagles, AC/DC and Green Day. The band has been together since 1998, with Jacob Medley on guitar, Travis Weber on guitar, Terence "T.J." Patton on bass and Matthew Jones on drums." Springfield goes “mondo bizarro!” Chief Wiggum’s electricity plans causes the town to be shrouded in light at all times. Eric Idle plays pompous documentarian Declan Desmond, who's filming “A Day in the Life of Springfield Elementary.” Lisa may be its best pupil, but Declan declares that her diverse interests show a lack of focus and make her a “buffet-style intellectual.” That criticism prompts Lisa to embrace astronomy as a career path. But when Springfield's night lights prevent her from gazing at the sky, Lisa successfully lobbies to have them dimmed. However, a resulting crime wave spawns a public backlash that Mayor Quimby quells by restoring even brighter illumination---making a decent night's sleep a dim memory for the increasingly neurotic townspeople.

Monty Python trouper Eric Idle is bringing his distinctly British voice Springfield, USA.
Idle will guest-star on Sunday's (March 30) episode of "The Simpsons," playing a British filmmaker who decides to shoot a documentary at Springfield Elementary. He's the first Python to lend his voice to the long-running FOX show.
"'The Simpsons' is great because it's like doing a radio show," Idle says. "Everybody does funny voices, and it's really good fun." Read the full story by Clicking Here

SO LET'S GET THIS RIGHT -- and we're open to correction.
Disney owns one major US news channel and The Simpsons is owned by Fox Networks, another major news channel in the US.
Surely that means – and we're prepared to admit this is an oversimplification -- that Marge Simpson is hitting on Bluto and Goofy Disney – hardly imaginable to us out of towners. And Homer wouldn't like it either.
We think he wouldn't like Fox hitting on Donald Duck, either.
'Cos surely Marge, being the all American US lass she is would never ever ever countenance her family hitting on those cuddly quadrupeds that Disney brings to the world.
Or is this just reductio ad absurdum, as those Latin speaking folk would have it? We think we should be told.
