Plot

Bart & Milhouse find a twenty dollar bill, and buy a Squishee made entirely out of syrup. After a wild night, Bart wakes up to find that he joined the Junior Campers. At first he hates it, until he finds out he can get out of school to go to meetings, and learn how to trap wild animals. Homer, on the other hand, thinks Bart is a complete square. But he still agrees to go on the river rafting trip with him. On the trip, however, he takes a wrong turn and he, Bart, Ned Flanders and Todd are lost out at sea. After several days, Homer has eaten most of the food rations. Believing that they might not make it, he gives Bart his Junior Camper pocket knife. However, he drops it and punctures the raft. As the raft sinks, Homer smells hamburgers and realizes that there is a nearby oil rig with a Krusty Burger on it. Homer follows the smell and they are saved.

Memorable quotes

Homer: Ah, finally a little quiet time to read some of my old favorites... Honey-roasted peanuts. Ingredients: Salt, artificial honey-roasting agents, pressed peanut sweepings...

Homer: Aw, twenty dollars? I wanted a peanut!
Brain: Twenty dollars can buy many peanuts.
Homer: Explain how!
Brain: Money can be exchanged for goods and services.

Bart: Okay, we're young, rich, and full of sugar, what do we do?
Milhouse: Let's go crazy, Broadway style!

Bart: Boy, a man on a Squishy bender can sure do some crazy things.
Barney: (on a ship wearing French clothes) Oh no, not again!

Homer: Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals! (pause) 'Cept the weasels.

Dr. Hibbert: Don't thank me - thank the knife!

Bart: "Don't do what Donny Don't does." They could've made this clearer.

Homer: Well, if it isn't the leader of the wiener patrol, boning up on his nerd lessons.

Homer: Ooh, floor pie!

Homer: Shut up, brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-tip!

Homer: Woohoo! See that, boy? Your old man was right, not Flanders. We are doomed! In your face, Flanders!

Notes

  • After Lisa tells Bart that cartoons don't have to be 100% realistic, a second Homer walks past the window (he is already sat on the couch).
  • After Dr. Hibbert takes out the man's appendix, the man gets up straight away and isn't bleeding.
  • Everyone in the arcade is queued up for the Terminator game.
  • Bart has badges for Archery, Debt Collecting, Embalming, TV Trivia and Patch Forgery.
  • A Wanted poster of Fat Tony can be seen in Wiggum's office.
