Rating: 3.9 (182 votes)

Plot

It is Bart's birthday. Homer buys him a "Superstar Celebrity Microphone" that sends sound through an AM radio. Bart plays a prank on the town with the radio. He throws the radio down a well and talks on the microphone, acting like he is trapped in the well. A large crowd gathers to see the incident, they come to the conclusion that no adult could fit down the well to save "Timmy O' Toole" as it is to small. Soon a group of celebrities writes a song to raise money to save Timmy O' Toole. However, Bart realizes that he left a "Property of Bart Simpson" label on the radio, and climbs climbs down the well to get the microphone. The rope breaks and he plummets in the well. He is now stuck in the well for real and admits his joke. However, the townspeople don't like this and leave him down in the well. Homer starts digging to save Bart, and soon the whole town joins and rescues Bart.

Memorable quotes

Bart: Digital audio tape, my butt! When I was a kid, we had compact disks, and I don't recall no one complaining.
Barber: Damn right.

Homer: Oh, there's only one can of beer left, and it's Bart's.

Bart: (over radio) Rod, Todd, this is God!
Rod: How did you get on the radio?
Bart: Whaddya mean, how did I get on the radio? I created the universe! Stupid kid.
Todd: Forgive my brother. We believe you.
Bart: Talk is cheap. Perhaps I'll test a guy's faith. Walk through the wall! I will remove it for you... (he walks into the wall) Later.

Homer: That Timmy is a real hero!
Lisa: How do you mean, Dad?
Homer: Well, he fell down a well, and... he can't get out.
Lisa: How does that make him a hero?
Homer: Well, that's more than you did!

Wiggum: Your boy picked a bad time to fall down a well. If he'd done it at the start of the fiscal year, no problemo.

Marge: Bart honey, I made you an extra-warm sweater you can wear while you're down in the well.
Bart: Mom, it's too big.
Homer: Don't worry, you'll grow into it.

Marge: Sting, you look tired. Maybe you should take a rest.
Sting: Not while one of my fans needs me.
Marge: Actually, I don't know if I've ever heard Bart play one of your albums.
Homer: Shhhh. Marge, he's a good digger!
